FAQ
When does E-Day Season 1 end?
When did Versus Ranked launch in E-Day?
Does E-Day have a battle pass?
What is the Season 2 Legacy gift?
Gears of War: E-Day's post-launch plan runs at least five named seasons, and the first one is live now. Season 1 "Emergence" runs eight weeks from launch, Versus Ranked opened on October 13, 2026, and Season 2 "Legacy" already has a dated gift for every player. Here's the roadmap as officially announced, what's in each season, and what seasons actually cost — everything beyond Season 2 is name-only until The Coalition dates it.
What is the E-Day season roadmap?
| Season | Theme | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Emergence | Launch season | Live; 8 weeks, ends December 1, 2026 |
| 2 — Legacy | Gears' 20th anniversary | Next; all-players gift November 7, 2026 |
| 3 — Infiltration | Announced name only | No dates yet |
| 4 — Pendulum | Announced name only | No dates yet |
| 5 — Devotion | Announced name only | No dates yet |
That's the confirmed slate — five seasons minimum, with The Coalition free to extend beyond. Season length will vary between them; Season 1's eight weeks is the anchor to judge the rest by.
What's in Season 1: Emergence?
Season 1 began with early access on October 1 and the full launch on October 6, and it packs three limited events, each running two weeks: Halloween, "20 Years of Gears", and Thanksgibbing. Every event bundles a Versus Event mode, a Horde Siege Event mission, and exclusive rewards — so the seasonal content feeds both multiplayer tracks, not just one. The Horde side of that loop is broken down in our Horde Siege guide.
Around the events:
- Weekly challenges started October 1 for Premium owners and October 6 for everyone, with the first full refresh on October 13.
- The shop rotates every Tuesday, with a free featured gift each week.
- Currencies split two ways: Coins you earn by playing, and paid Iron. Limited-time partnership cosmetics return to the Barracks later, purchasable with those currencies.
- Crossover bonuses: earning the "Prison Breakout" achievement in Gears of War: Reloaded grants the "Fire and Fenix" pose, and its Re-Up achievement grants an Old Guard Medal and "Locked n' Reloaded" title.
- The "Never Fight Alone" Year 5 bundle sends 100% of net revenue to Crisis Text Line for suicide prevention.
When did Versus Ranked launch?
October 13, 2026 — one week after launch. The Coalition staggered Ranked deliberately so players could learn the maps, modes, and sandbox in the 4v4 Social playlists first (Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition, and the new Crucible). The competitive ladder climbs from Bronze to Legend.
Two sandbox facts matter for Ranked prep: Versus uses fixed loadouts — the weapon mod system doesn't apply, with power weapons spawning on the map instead. So the campaign-tier rankings in our best weapons guide translate only partially; movement and map control carry more weight than any roll.
How much do seasons cost?
Nothing is gated behind a traditional battle pass — there isn't one. The monetization shape is:
- Coins (earned in-game) and Iron (paid) for shop items, with the Emergence Bundle at $74.99 as the headline Iron bundle (it includes Demon Marcus).
- Five seasonal customization packs come bundled with the Premium Edition, starting with the Emergence Pack — that's the closest thing to a season pass, and it's a one-time purchase rather than a recurring one. The full editions math is in our editions breakdown.
- Everything else — events, challenges, ladder — is playable at the base game or via Game Pass, the same day-one tier covered in our early access guide.
What's in Season 2: Legacy?
Season 2 doubles as the franchise's 20th birthday. Two things are locked in:
- November 7, 2026 — the anniversary date — every E-Day player receives a birthday gift, no purchase required.
- "Dead Serious" — the traditional Seriously-style mega-achievement — pays out a medal, title, banner, emblem, icon, and the first Legendary character skin in franchise history, debuting when Season 2 starts. Earning it is a whole roadmap of its own: 100% campaign on Insane, 25,000 Versus kills, max Player Level, and all four Horde classes maxed. The full requirements are in our achievements guide.
